Deadline & How to Apply:
To be considered for the 2021 Fellows Class, which runs from September 2020 to August 2021, you must apply by Sunday, February 2, 2020, at 11:59 pm EST.

Please download the instructions (PDF) and work samples cover page (doc) files before you begin your application; you can find both files toward the end of the page after the "Disclaimer" section.

Also, note that your application will automatically save, so you can come back to the form at any time before the deadline.

About the New America Fellows Program:
New America’s Fellows Program invests in thinkers—journalists, scholars, filmmakers, and public policy analysts—who generate big, bold ideas that have an impact and spark new conversations about the most pressing issues of our day.

Fellows advance ideas through research, reporting, analysis, and storytelling. We look for projects, books primarily, that are original and ambitious, with viable plans for their implementation. There is no set template for a successful fellowship project. Some projects focus on furthering a new public policy idea through either a domestic or international lens, while others illuminate longstanding dilemmas of American life from new angles.
