I am from Myanmar and in 2002 I was detained by military government because I involved in student political movement against military regime. Therefore, I was fired by university authorities and I didn't finish my graduate. Currently I am working for CSOs and INGOs as freelance consultant and author related to political science and human rights. Can I apply this program? Now I am 38 years old. Thanks.
Yes, you're welcome to apply.

I am Canadian. May I apply?
Per our FAQ page found here: https://www.newamerica.org/fellows/about/frequently-asked-questions/
Can I apply for the Fellows Program if I am not based in Washington, DC or am not a U.S. citizen?
Yes! We consider applications from those who may be based abroad for all or part of the year, and we accept applications from non-US citizens.
The important consideration is that no matter where you are based, we expect National Fellows to be involved in the New America community. That may involve traveling to our various offices for events as a speaker or moderator, attending or calling into our Fellows Program sessions, and, otherwise, being engaged in conversations we are having at New America.
New America is headquartered in Washington, DC, but we also have offices in New York and San Francisco and newly-opened offices in Chicago and Indianapolis that can serve as local hubs for fellows.
